Pivot 56, delayed for six months by a variety of disasters and sorrows,
including the death of the publisher's mother, is finally out. It
includes Frederick Feirstein's riveting Dark Carnival, sequel to his
well-known Manhattan Carnival, F.D. Reeve's Blue Cat, Tanya
Angell Allen's look at State Poet Laureates, Richard Moore's reflections
on several lengthy meetings with Robert Frost, reviews of books by Charles
Martin and Wilmer Mills, an essay by Joan Malerba-Foran, and numerous poetic
delights from a diverse group of poets, including Dessa Crawford, Sarah Hannah,
Henry George Fischer, Jeff Holt, Marco DiMartino (one poem restored!),
Anthony Lombardy, Mark Bleuer, Jeff Holt, the late Ann Sillsbee, John
Nixon (A long time editor at The Lyric), Ruth Latta, Paul Lake, Nils
Clausson, Peggy Gwynn, Gregory Jerozal, Peter Marcus, and others.
One sour note: the printer made a mess of David Berman's poems, which
will be reprinted in Pivot 57. Our apologies to David.
